Loch Ness Tours
This two-day tour may start in either Glasgow or Scotland’s Capital City, Edinburgh.
We travel past the magnificent Forth bridges, heading northwest to Doune Castle (famous for the filming of Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Game of Thrones and the superb blockbuster, ‘Outlander’). Coffee/bathroom break at the pretty & historic town of Callander. Heading north, we can take a short 20-minute walk in the stunning Glencoe, with its beautiful but tragic history. We stop for lunch in the magnificent setting of the Claighaig Inn at Glencoe. We can then start to traverse the Great Glen, past Scotland’s highest mountain, where we board a boat (optional) on the infamous Loch Ness! Overnight in Inverness or the Loch Ness area.
We start the day heading towards the battlefield of Culloden Moor, immortalised in the ‘Outlander’ TV series. This was the ‘last stand’ of the Highlanders, and initiated the end of the Highland way of life in 1746. From Scotland’s recent history, we then head to the ancient standing stones and tombs of Clava Cairns (they pre-date Stonehenge by 1,000 years!). Lunch can be enjoyed at Newtonmore Folk Village, another ‘Outlander’ filming location.
We end this tour with a wonderful walk at the Hermitage (with its beautiful waterfalls) and a final coffee break in the first capital of Scotland, Dunkeld!
