This tour could be done from Edinburgh or Glasgow or as an On shore Excursion from Greenock.
The tour can be taken as part of a scheduled departure in a 16-seater minibus or part of a private, flexible tour. Our first stop is by Loch Lomond, away from the tourist masses from the ship, where we can take a lovely small hike (if you wish to see some magnificent views.) See the source of the River Forth at Aberfoyle, or stop to watch a local sheepdog show. Head over a mountain pass for lunch by a beautiful loch or a quant country pub, if preferred. Walk off your lunch with a gentle stroll to the stunning Bracklinn Falls. A tour of a whisky distillery can be arranged, or a visit to Doune Castle. This 1400’s fortress was built by the Duke of Albany, but its recent history as a movie set intrigues most visitors! It featured in ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, the pilot episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ as Winterfell Castle, and more recently as ‘Castle Leoch’ in the blockbuster series ‘Outlander’.
Head back to the ship in plenty of time for departure.
