To the south of Edinburgh, we take in the stunning Rosslyn Chapel, a magnificent example of medieval architecture with designs not fully understood in the modern world. What secrets are kept within the walls? Everywhere you look, another frightening gargoyle watches your every move. With purported connections to Freemasonry, the Knights Templar, and featuring in The Da Vinci Code, there’s a lot to ponder. Many different religions are represented in this apparently ‘Christian’ place of worship.
Heading east to Dunbar and Tantallon Castle, hugging the coast, we enjoy lunch in the pretty town of North Berwick. After a lovely walk along the beach, we head back into the city via Glenkinchie Distillery (Edinburgh’s Malt Whisky) for a wee dram to finish off the day
